In Thorsminde, the St. George Shipwreck Museum is well worth a visit. The museum presents thousands of finds from one of the worst naval disasters in history, which occurred when two British ships of the line – the St. George and the Defence – met their fate in late December 1811.
The region is also perfect for cycling and rambling trips through the delightful stretches of heath and woodland. You can also go horse riding to see everything from a different
angle. In addition, the area is a popular destination with anglers, as there are opportunities to try all kinds of fishing.
Water lovers will find just what they are looking for at the giant swimming centre, with acilities including a 40-metre water slide. You could also call in to see one of the many artists who are happy to welcome visitors into their workshops and studios. What is more, the local shops and businesses have something to suit all tastes.
