South West Jutland encompasses varied nature, exciting cultural heritage, culinary experiences, challenges for the active visitor and scenic North Sea beaches for every taste.
South West Denmark’s diversity is outstanding. From the wild North Sea to the flat Wadden Sea to the mild river valleys, lakes and agricultural land further inland. With its variety and fascinating fauna the Wadden Sea is a piece of unique nature in Denmark, and consequently the Wadden Sea is appointed to become a National Park. The region also offers large contrasts – from Denmark’s 5th largest and youngest city Esbjerg – with an active international harbour – to the idyllic towns Varde, Tønder, Nordby and Sønderho on Fanø and Ribe – Denmark’s oldest town that in 2010 celebrates its 1300 years jubilee.
